Sharapova set aside Dulko

SharapovaFormer champion Maria Sharapova beat Argentine Gisela Dulko 6-0, 6-1 in just under an hour on the first round of Australian Open on Tuesday.

Sharapova, who won titles in 2008, was in top form when he overcame Argentina’s tennis player in hot conditions at the Hisense Arena.

It was Sharapova’s impressive performance against the highest-ranked player who had the world 26.

The Russian fourth seed also showed no signs of the left ankle injury that forced him to withdraw from the Brisbane International two weeks ago.

Sharapova took the first set in just 25 minutes and not lose one game to lead 2-0 in the second set, when the service was sometimes not sided with him. But he quickly got up to behind the break and cruised to win the match.
